Just going to make an order to Scale Hardware only to find they have ceased trading - must have been sleeping and missed this one - any one know of any other companies who do similar products its the "dummy nuts/bolts" Im after - found a nut /bolt suppler here in the UK but limited to what they supply

I have used True Details resin bolt heads. Nothing smaller than 1.6 mm though. I get them from Last Cavalry. I think Meng makes some too for the armor builders.

Scale Hardware is a big loss. I ordered something early last year, but later I also found that they are gone.

Crud! That is a big loss. If I'd known that was going to happen I would have stocked up.

This thread gave me a strong sense of deja vu.
Some weeks ago a very similar discussion took place on the Proto:48 Yahoo! email group. Fortunately, things are not s bleak as they might look.
Here is a quote from a post:

"I just got off the phone with Mr. Bressler (sp) who owned Scale Hardware until they closed last fall and he confirmed it has been sold. In a few months it will be back in action under the name Scale Hardware with all the inventory he carried before. This is great news in my book."

Thats all he wrote, and I can not verify the information, but lets keep our finger crossed.

I have been able to find much of what I need from some German webshops, but as the payment options were quite limited and my german quite limited as well, I would welcome a return of Scale Hardware under new ownership.

I hope it's true, they had some amazingly small fasteners. The owner gave great service too.

If it reopens, that would indeed be awesome.

i have ordered from them (about 2 years ago,) and everything went well. the hardware SH sold is still being manufactured, it just takes a bit of digging to find. SH was indeed a great resource.

I have noticed that there are a lot of placese where you can buy much of the stuff SH sold, and I am really  curious about who actually makes the stuff. And how do they do it?

I don´t doubt that Micro Fasteners has a lot of useful stuff for modellers, bu I can not find any of the same items that Scale Hardware offered.
What am I missing?

You're not missing anything.  Micro Fasteners offers a nice range of machine screws, nuts, and washers in sizes ranging from 00-90 at the small end to 2-56 at the big end of the spectrum.  They have good prices and good service, too, but they don't offer the truly tiny bits that Scale Hardware did.

What about rivets? I haven't seen any place yet that has the tiny rivets like SH had.

Very good news.
And check out Mr. Loyds models, he must be one of SH´s better customers!
