Just had a real good look at the last of the four photos added by Rail & Tie, showing all the gears in the drive train of the model.
It looks like a compatent person should be able to get the model to move under it's own power, that's if you can hide a battery in the model somewhere.

Bloody nice model though, reminds me of the old Bandia Pendle Princess model.

All of a sudden the old Bandai traction engine kits are disappearing fast on EBAY - put  3 bids on 3 kits in but lost by a lot of money ! and I mean a lot of money !

Apparently this kit is now available. An Oz pusher sent me an email this morning offering them for NZ$714·18 – probably half that in currencies that are actually worth something.
