Title: Chain drive Engine # 2 in 1:20.3 scale
Post by: LLOYD on March 07, 2009, 06:43:11 AM
Hello Compadre,

Enclosed some photos of my preferred scratchbuilt Chain Drive engine # 2 in 1:20.3 scale!
I built this engine model in 2001, I was inspired for this work by the engine of the ISTHMUS TRANSIT RAILROAD, see the Gazette sep/oct 1988 and jan/feb 1989.
I changed it a little the size, to adapt it in narrow gauge, and placed the fly wheel in center.
About parts of this engine :
Frame, truck, pilot and deck is in wood.
The wheels was from Gary Raymond.
Chain and Sproket wheels from Grandt Line.
Boiler is from Ozark Miniature Single drum donkey , also many detail parts.
Cylinder from donkey and functionnal valve gear was scratchbuilt from brass and iron.
The motor is Fallhaber placed between the front wheels.
I made one other same engine models for my friend Guy J. Tyteca , a Belgian logging fan and collector of many logging models in G 1:20.3 and HO.
I'm very enjoyed to built this more or less freelanced model!

Sincerely!
Lloyd

Nice work, Lloyd. And the larger scale really shows off the coloring and detail. -- Russ
