Title: granite flatcars
Post by: Bill Gill on January 21, 2026, 07:04:35 AM
There's a bit of a granite quarry on the back edge of the C&VRR. Finally 3 Bachmann Civil War era flat cars have just been somewhat updated and upgraded, turning them into rolling stock dedicated to captured service hauling chunks of granite to processing sites imagined further up the line.

Nice!
Is that real granite or simulated?

Martin, It's extruded Styrofoam insulation and craft paints. The chunks of foam were broken rather than cut and any weird bits were sanded away.
The look matches the rest of the "granite" in the quarry pit.

Thanks, Jerry.
There's lots of granite around here to look at for reference  ;)
