I have built three versions of this kit over the years including two scratchbuilt versions. One full size and one selectively compressed.
I put one on my old kit versions outside and left it to see what would happen in a full Alaskan winter. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
I always used Elmer's glue at the time and when springtime arrived, I found I had a new, prepainted and warped kit.
Recently the bug to build another copy of this mine bit so I picked up a kit on Ebay and started to build.
I had forgotten how big this model is and how hard it is to build. I have gotten spoiled on laser cut kits and this one is definitely old school. I had also forgotten how hard it is to work with pine as opposed to basswood.
The build was straightforward and enjoyable.
I built the model pretty much as it comes in the kit.
It took as long to build it into the scenery as to build the structure itself.
Very nice!
