Hello, Rik, welcome to the forums. Thanks for translating and posting that video.
I'm wondering if the yellower"good" foam might be a urethane foam instead of the "bad" styrofoam. Or is the "good" foam extruded styrofoam - like he blue and pink insulation sheets? I'll watch for the rest of the series.
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Jerry

The good foam board is made from polyurethane foam, if it looks like small air bubels than it is not usable.

Nice to have you back, Rik. That was a very helpful video. Thank you for posting the link. Have you built any recent models to show us? -- Russ
Great video.
That looks like a fine material to carve and work with.
I look forward to the next video.
Now, what is this "good stuff" called in the US (brand, model, type)?
Where can I get it? Online?
Thanks,
Carlo

CANSON is one of the brands selling the good stuf.
It needs to have polyurethann foam, than you have the right one.
If you look on the web with this words you find the wright foam board.
Also Kapa line is a good brand.
I hoop I helped you with this info. ;)

Yes, RIMKOV locomotive tetsting station is the latest layout.

I have no film of a recent model built out of foam board, only pictures.
Some stuctures in the layout "RIMKOV" and "Carrière de petit granit" are made out of foam board.

That wagon elevator is way cool!
Thanks, Rik -
Sorry, but I can't find any source of either Kappa or Canson here in the US, online.
AliBabba does however sell it by the ton!
Carlo
Suggestion: Here in the US, look into rigid foam board insulation. many years ago I bought it in 4 x 8 sheets 2" thick. I went through a local industrial insulation supply company. It is tan in color, sand paper like texture and light. Very carveable and paintable. The main drawback is the it is also very dusty to work with. I wish I had more information for you but that was over twenty years ago. It made great scenery for dioramas featuring my model logging equipment kits.
Bill
I tried searching for Canson foam board. The only lead I got was for Canson foamcore with a polystyrene core, not polyurethane.
Rigid polyurethane foam board insulation is available in different thickness and I believe with different materials covering the top and bottom of the sheet. I don't know how easily peeled away any of those coverings might be.
Corafoam is a polyurethane foam designed for sculpting and engineering, prototyping applications. It is available in 4 densities. It has no covering. It isn't cheap.
Balsa Foam is a phenolic foam specifically designed for sculpting. It comes in different sizes and two different densities. It is available from Blick Art Supply among other places. Movie set designers among others use it.
Here's a link to some information of both of these:

Question,
Is my spoken English understandable ?
Are there a lot of mistakes ?
Greetings, Rik.
Your English is really quite good, with only a few very minor imperfections; you would have to speak English as a first language to know them. Overall, your English is better than that of most Americans. -- Russ
