Title: Sawmills then and now
Post by: NORCALLOGGER on May 22, 2017, 07:41:21 AM
My Brother-in-Law has been at it again.
He has taken some of his old video of the Phillips steam saw mill and combined it with some work he has recently done at Sierra Pacific Industries creating a very interesting comparison of technologies.
Enjoy

Nice, and very handy. My layout is going to have some type pf wood product processing, perhaps a small sawmill that will get rail service only because it is close to a quarry, or maybe it will be a shingle mill, or maybe just a pulpwood loading area. Thank you and your brother-in-law for providing some inspiration for the sawmill option.

Very interesting. What a contrast between the workers in the booths versus the hard slog in the small mill.
