Title: 1/12th scale groceries
Post by: Ray Dunakin on February 15, 2017, 10:05:49 PM
A couple weeks ago Cris and I went to the annual miniatures show. This is almost entirely dollhouse stuff, usually in 1/12th scale but there are a few 1/24th and 1/48th scale items too.

Anyway, there was on lady there who makes incredibly realistic breads, fruits, and vegetables out of poly clay. These items are realistic inside and out -- you can cut them up and the interior looks just a real as the exterior. The breads even have the prototypically correct voids depending on the type of bread! You can peel the skin off the avocados and remove the pit. You can chop up the cabbage like the real thing, or peel the potatoes. It was all made by hand, and all very, very impressive.

I was able to get a few photos, though no real close ups:

Where was the show and who is the lady?  I have been in the miniature business for many, many years. Perhaps I know her.

Her name is Pat Richmond, of Twinheart Miniatures. The show was here in San Diego and was hosted by San Diego Miniature Crafters.

Ray, Thanks for posting the . It's really impressive that the pieces can be peeled, sliced and diced and still look right inside and out. The little bit I've tried poly clay was a very positive experience and these examples will inspire me to experiment more with that material.

I see post from the IGMA guild group on Facebook, and there are a number of incredible makers of food and plants in that scale.
