Title: Railway models in wood
Post by: Ray Dunakin on February 17, 2015, 04:28:10 PM
Here's someone in Germany who builds exquisite railway models entirely of wood, save for a few screws and the motors/batteries. They're built to run on 5" gauge track, which is also wood:

Bit confused with what the actual "scale" of these models would be, OK, the rail line is 5 inch wide, but what scale does that make any models ?

So -- 1/12, --- 1/8, --- 1/7.25 or some other scale ?

Wood really is a beautiful material. All he did was clear coat his models and none looks as though it needs paint. And his craftsmanship is excellent.

And then look at all the fools playing with his trains and ignoring the beauty and elegance of his creations!

WOW!
I do both (woodworking & trains) but doubt I have the time(skill) for both at the same time.
Would kill two birds with one stone though!

I love the faces of the children operating the trains.

After this I think it is time for me to quit trying and start collecting empty beer bottles 1 at a time.
