A few seemed to take a look at the last video so maybe this one will be found interesting as well.
This was filmed on the same day as the first video but we now see the 60 inch butt cut of the Ponderosa Pine being milled. A real challenge as this mill wasn't really designed to handle logs of this size, but the job gets done.

Nice video, as usual! Really interesting to see how they sharpen the big blades.
That log pond looks more like a hog wallow!
Yes it does Ray,
The pond is spring fed and it is August in the Northern California Mountains.
All winter and spring the pond is running over the dams spillway.

Thank you Rick,
This brings back my memories of working in saw mills when it wasn't all automated. Lots of grunt work.

Thanks Rick. An excellent video.

Couple of great videos Rick. Nice to see that while using aging techniques they also maintain aging OH&S guidelines :)
Certainly a video such as this is the simplest way to gain better appreciation of how to rip down a large log, and put machinery location into a better perspective.
Cheers,
Dan
