Title: Nifty print Utility I found on a Woodworkers sight
Post by: RichD on November 28, 2012, 08:03:32 AM
To all..

Over at woodgears.ca there is a print utility call BigPrint.  (http://woodgears.ca/bigprint/index.html)

It was designed for woodworkers to scale drawings and print at full scale as templates for furniture.  It works by opening an image to print (or CAD drawing) and selecting a known measurement and then telling the BigPrint utility to print the measurement to a certain size (not scale).

But I found it also works in reverse, I took a drawing of a passenger truck that I knew had 33" wheels and told BigPrint to print the wheel at  0.5156" (33/64 for S scale) and it did.  I had a perfectly scaled print of the passenger truck in S scale.

This would also work if you had ANY image of a building and knew the front door was 36" wide.  You could immediately send it to the printer in any scale you wanted.

Give it a try.. there is an eval copy available.
