Title: Quick intro - be kind!
Post by: voyager on August 21, 2012, 11:57:47 AM
As it is Gordon's fault I'm here, any complaints can go his way! Been on the Gnatterbox for some time, through that got back into truck modelling which is where I 'met' Gordon (and Andi!). Found we had a taste for similar plant and vehicles, hence his invite to join here. I have 'lurked' in the past, never daring to join my modelling heroes having followed Chuck, Ken, Marc et all around various forums.

You will probably realise most truck modellers' like nice shiney things - not me! Here to learn (and give Gordon grief/a gee up to get stuff finished!), I'll post a couple of pics of my latest build just to give you an idea how far I have to go.....

Truck has many modifications, trailer is scratchbuilt. (Don't worry I have a thick skin.... ;D)

Looks good to me! I like weathered trucks. This has a believable look to it.

Welcome to the forum.  I wish you would have used your name though.

A nice fist post.  Looks realistic to to me.  And a nice job.

Thanks for the kind words. My apologies for the name - Andrew is the proper one! I will set up a sig with my name on, I don't loke anonymous names on forums either!

Nice work!
But what scale is it?

Hello Andrew .............. may I add my warmest welcomes to those of the others.
Truck looks great, and I think your edict for less "trucking" and more "modelling" will sit very well too.
You absolutely must delve into the archives here, I've slowly been working my way through them and there are some distinct treasures to be found.
Look forward to your future contributions - post long and often.

Andi.

I hope it's your SWAP project.  ::)  (My apologies to others as this is a bit of an inside joke.)

Thanks Bill, that went in between the 6th & 7th ribs with a slight twist  :'(

(just waiting for the couplings, think they are being hand forged !)

Well you have all been kind! Don't worry, I have a thick skin so don't expect such an easy ride with every project ;D

The model is 1/25th scale, an AMT Mack cut down from a 6x4 to a 4x2. The model was inspired by a photograph in a classic truck magazine

As for Gordon finishing something, I for one am not holding my breath...... ;)

Nice work Andrew, and welcome to the nut house.
The name on the truck reminds me a guy who is kind of a big deal in my neck on the woods...

Welcome Andrew and congrats on a very nice build and finish. Macks are a favorite of mine, particularly the old R model.

Soon as I have anything to show I will post it but at the moment by build rate is slower than Gordon (and still waiting for Andi to sort that CA van!).

In the meantime, the son of the the truck owner has found me and he loves the model too - that means a lot!

Ooops - blushes!

CA Van has been shelved due to severe brain-fade. Started upon 1/24 crawler challenge which has also stalled. Not that I'm not desperate to get back to the bench, I just can't seem to generate the time at the minute.
Gus [the new pup] has turned into some kind of a sneak thief - you only have to turn your back and he's found some other piece of mischief to get into: we had a devastating storm through here about six weeks ago and I'm still without a conservatory roof - the house roof has been patched and is waiting to be stripped and rebuilt - my car has been into the "menders" twice and is waiting to go back again tomorrow. Bill so far for that is £4500 ($6000) .............. Greenhouse is gone and theres no glazing at all on the North side of the house!!!

I REALLY just want to get back to the bench .............. oh, and term starts in the next fortnight so I've got those little darlings to look forward to.

  woe is me!
