Title: How would i recreate this look
Post by: Wesleybeks on April 03, 2012, 03:30:29 AM
Hi everyone.

Theres a construction site close to where I live and i stopped there yesterday to get some pictures of the bulldozer that is parked there.

My question is how would you create the colour of the metal under the yellow paint.

Interested to hear your comments.

Marc told me about Model Color 70822 by Vallejo. If you sponge it on around the corners, it's a pretty good match for that type of metal.

It all depends on how you want to make the paint wear away. If you use hairspray, you need an enamel base coat.

Check out Marc's build here: http://www.finescalerr.com/smf/index.php?topic=126.msg638#msg638

Dark brownish-black base ... glaze with Reaper Scorched Metal ... powdery glazes of lighter tans & grays ... I think!  (Looking at photo, that's where I'd start) -- Dallas
