Does anyone know of a general interest history/picture book on US car engines pre 1960? I realize there are TMs and repair handbooks for specific engines, but I'm more looking more for a generalized book on US car engines, with lots of pictures.
Thanks
Dave
I don't know about books, but Dave Lindsay at "SoCalCarCulture" has tons of Fotki albums
with even more tons of photos of all types of engines - old, new, stock & souped-up.
Check it out.

Hey Ken
Thanks! I'm designing some laser cut parts for 1/87 scale "Old Car Junk II" set, and thinking about including a couple of engines, so I need references showing motors outside the cars, and measurements. Here are some quick test parts assembled. Needs a lot of adjusting, but gives you an idea where I'm going with this.

PS also need references for a 50s or earlier garage engine hoist. Might be able to include one in the kit.
Pretty impressive for a 1:87 scale rough draft. And a subject I've never seen any other laser cutter attempt. -- Russ
