Again I venture into unknown territory for me since I have little knowledge of rail related equipment. But I had a very nice modeler from Spain send me some prototype photos of the Zis-5 pressed into rail service. I took a huge amount of liberty here and came up with this 1/87 scale model of the Roco injected molded plastic piece.
Very nice!
I thought on a "railcar" the rails were supposed to be under the truck? ;)
A cool little build.
Marc
Real neat little conversion! Lots of nice details.
Cheers,
Dallas
Nice build.
Very realistic.
Uncle Russ may not approve of the chain, that's just a rumor I heard.
Rick
Very nice build Chester, as always.
Would you mind sharing one of the prototype photos of the beast. I am Russian and am very interested in all rail related things from back there, but thi info is hard to come by. I doesn't seem to be very well documented, or at least accessible.
Thanks
Alex
Thanks all, this was actually a very simple build. And yes I had my trepidations over the chain for just the reasons described.
This for Marc with the rails on the right side of the truck.

Alex, here's a proto photo for you
Nicely built, and it look plausable to me.
The prototype looks less believable than the model! The model looks very appropriate and normal. But I am sorry to see the white-wall wheel rims didn't make it on the model; that would have classed it up even more.
Very nice build Chester.
John
I really need to start poking around on other threads. Chester, what a neat little piece.
For not knowing much about railcars, you hit this one right on the button.
Nice job!
