Any one know of any sites showing early (steam era ) supply depots and stores for mining and logging times  had a quick look and keeps coming up modern day stuff  there was some nice stuff on "photo of the day" done a search but comes up with 0 or perhaps its me or Google has lost it

You could try the Library of Congress Historic American Buildings Survey/Historic American Engineering site: https://www.loc.gov/pictures/collection/hh/. Shorpy may also be a possibility though they are somewhat limited pre twentieth century: https://www.shorpy.com/

Try looking at the facilities of the East Broad Top RR in Rockhill Furnace, Pa.  Built nearly a century ago and closed in the 1950's it is a well preserved early 20th century railroad work facility which is nearly complete.  The Friends of the East Broad Top has a company store which sells many of the books written about the RR and the shops.

If you google the East Broad Top shops and then hit images, you will be swamped.
