Hope you guys are still enjoying my sci-fi projects! My opinion is that the more subject matter you do, the more you learn and grow. :-) My Orb Ship progress blog! Metallic goodness... for now!

Nice!
It's interesting how tied we are to Earth's atmosphere in our designs. Fins, wings and rudders are totally useless in space yet we feel the need to include them.
The Borg had it right. Best use of living space was a cube. Resistance is futile!

Nice! I went to a workshop with Scott last weekend and saw the ship there. It's very high quality!!

I really enjoy how you bring these bizarre creations to life. -- Russ
Been 4 months, but I'm back on this! Spent the past few days painting and chipping to what you see. Next is weathering!

The Orb Ship's 2nd Edition (http://industriamechanika.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=17) will be available for preorder next month. :-)
Next update is the first stages of weathering with oils. All the details are on my site so no need to rewrite them. Also started on the Martian terrain groundwork based on a cool rover image. (also on the site)

Base is pretty much completed while the Orb Ship's oil-weathering continues to cure. I did a whole SBS on how to achieve this here:

Nice! The base really looks good, I recognize the terrain from the Mars pics.
The ship is coming along great. Nice work as usual. Really like the base as well.
Did you spray a matte sealer over the metal base colors, su as to help the color coat bond better for the chipping stage. (I have heard people having problems when doingchipping paint over metal, by having entire sections of color just sluff off.)
I used Alclad over Duplicolor for the base coat, but used a nice coat of gloss Future thinned with Tamiya Thinner via airbrush to seal it. I wanted the metal to be shiny. I had no problems at all with the metal, but the kit also "cured" for 2 months on my shelf so maybe that made the difference?
