Title: morocco 1918
Post by: franckcombe on November 22, 2016, 11:46:33 AM
I wanted to do a layout based on these photos but at 1/13 scale it was not possible. So I choose to do that at 1/72 scale because at this scale there are french military figures and arabs too.

At Morocco in 1918, the french developed narrow gauge railways of 60 cm for civilian and military used. 60 cm at 1/72 scale is more of less 9mm, so I could used too the 009 material.

The layout will be an oval of 120 cm by  47 cm with an hidden part behind to finish the oval

I finish the layout the 11 th of November in memory of those who fight an died for us and our liberty.

I add the brushes, trees and people. Sorry there is no foreign legion but french army.

Once again I plead with you guys to upload your photos directly to this forum, do not link photos from other sites. A "hold up" from Photobucket can become a permanently broken or changed link and all the photos will disappear from this forum. Just look at some older posts and you'll see black boxes where photos used to be. -- Russ

In Morocco,  there is a track motor car for the military head quarter transport.

I have finished my layout. I need just to add 4 rolling stocks and two more locomotives (one Baldwin and one decauville) as soon as they will be released bu Minitirains and Bachmann.

The layout will be exhibited for the first time at Sedan Ramma in France in 15 days.

A general overview of the layout.

With Christmas cheer in mind I see that the Wise Men are stopping at the Frankincense mine on their way to Bethlehem.

The sepia prints have a real feel of tourist photos from your Great Grandfather's tour of duty in North Africa a century ago.

The exhibition was excellent with beautiful layouts like Punta Marina and many others.

My layout run well but I have minor defaults to correct like the lighting too yellowish.

Here a shoot of the true decauville rolling stocks in Morocco from Loco Revue Magazine.

Franck, please spend some "quality time" with a good psychiatrist. Also, avoid being seen by government employees when wearing those clothes and certainly never wear them to an airport! -- ssuR

Hi Frank,

I find this is an excellent successful complementary way of presentation.
I have already presented my monastery studs in the work suit of a mountain worker, which significantly increased the recognition value of my own person as a model on the plant.
Does it already exist as a model on the plant?

I try to heal my mind with model railroad but it seems no to be very successful. In french airport on flight for North Africa, there is a lot of persons that wear it. I wear it only for the exhibition.

Congratulations Franck! Very impressive.

Bill, I once got stuck behind an entire herd of cattle that had escaped from an overturned trailer on a major urban freeway. It did make for an interesting call explaining to the wife why I was going to be late getting home ...

I appreciate the prize but it's not my aim. The best prize is  in exhibition the positive reaction of the public.

Now this layout, is an old project for me. I'm going to exhibit it in Europe this year. This week-end I will go in Luxembourg to show it. I have already sold this layout. I'm focused on my narrow gauge sugar cane railways in Egypt and on my US ho layout.

I'm member of the CFC ( A true 60 cm narrow gauge train with 4 miles of tracks). We exhibited during 2 days for the heritage days in the workshops. We have few visitors but we spent good times with friends.
