Using and modifying some Renault FT Tank bits from the Meng kit (1/35th scale) I have started to build a late 1st WW Pre-production model of Renaults attempts at building a general purpose tractor (tracked version) - many were built in the late part of the 1st WW war and in-between the wars - first versions were a little crude using bits of the successful FT tank - but parts like the elaborate typical Renault bonnet /hood turned out to be a bent sheet metal effort mainly due to shortages in components and acquiring the appropriate pressings /machinery at the bomb out factories -engines were what was available and the tracks were often refurbished items - my research has shown many variations so its up the middle road with this one - it normally keeps the rivet counters at bay !!
a few shots of the progress so-far

photo of a early production model - possible 1919/20
The idler and drive wheels have been replaced - teeth on the drive wheels are only the ones that can be seen - the lower rollers have been repositioned
The main body/chassis - early pre-production ones had a longer nose ! (bonnet / hood)
The engine and transmission bits / oil tank and all inside bits have been painted so the top half can be fitted
fuel tank ad rad now in place and front winch fitted
Started some work on the artillery piece that the Renault will be towing
Good start. The completed model should be satisfactory. -- Russ

Well, sitting in my hotel room in Chamonix looking at Mont Blanc ( that's in France , for those of you less well travelled ) gets a bit boring after a time . So I thought I would add my two cents worth .
Don't worry , Russ , I am still here all the time , I just don't feel the need to talk very often . Just carry on as normal and I'll chip in again soon ,
Nick
Thanks for clearing up the geography. I thought Chamonix was a brand of toilet paper and Mont Blanc a fountain pen. -- Russ
Russ needs to get out more.
Bit late but here is the finished job
a few more
Most satisfactory, as usual. -- Russ

I like the skylights, gutters, and debris on the roofs of the houses. Any clues as to why there is a wooden fence blocking the entrance behind the tractor driver's head?
It looks like the suspension on the tractor would make for a rough ride.
