Hi Folks, been a long time since posting here. I look at the fantastic work being done on this forum all the time, but usually lurking rather than participating.
I am working on a new kit prototype of the CR LAMB Sternwheeler in 1:48 Scale. We have already done this one in HO and N scale, but O demands so much more detail and will be including the boiler and engines. Not much information available on the engines that the real LAMB, but have come up with this design. Will 3d print master and resin cast the parts for the kit.
Looking for honest feedback and thoughts on the design.
The boiler is a work in progress, but the engines and drive are pretty much complete.
Boiler work in progress
Your CAD renderings look great!
Thanks Ray, Can't believe where the year went already! Way behind on this project. Cad work is just about complete and turning to some laser cutting next.
The business end.
Very nice!
I could be VERY tempted to change scale (again!) and get that model- especially with the engine detail. Just took a look at the HO one on the web-site, lots of character.

Thanks Les / Ray. Been busy with this one. I should not be surprised that it has taken this long to get this one together. It is twice the size of HO and 4X the volume. so that means you need 4X the detail to get it to look right. I find it's always hard to not oversize things in O scale.
Here are a few progress shots on how things are coming together.
Here are a few more.

last set for now.
The 3D printing on the engines is not perfect on the bottom where the support pins are, but fortunately you will never see that when installed in the ship.
That is quite a project. All things considered, you are making very good progress. Satisfactory. -- Russ
This is awesome!
That's some lovely detail, needed at that scale. I note the engine is 3D printed, I've had some bad experiences with that in the past but yours looks good, some sanding needed around the main cylinders.

Ships are also a passion of mine and so I was very pleased to look at this report.
Groovy.

Darryl Beautiful looking Ship. Great detail for sure!

Thanks for the comments guys.
Getting down to the fine details to call this one ready for kitting. It should be a good foundation for those who want to go nuts and add even more detail and finishing.

..and some general boat shots. Will post some better ones when I do an actual photo shoot.
Sternwheel, pitman arm and crank. Along with Duck Rudders and cable pulley blocks.
Wow, that is awesome! Really nice work. Is the prototype for a kit you're going to produce?
It would seem the kit requires a modest amount of work. -- Russ
Wonderful, nice detail. Capt. Louie would be proud of his old boat in 1:48.

Nice job!!
