Hi all. Finished painting up my Dragonfly! I designed this kit as a follow-up to the Hornet, but I think I may like this one better. Sleeker, more detail, larger, etc... Having said that, I have a spare set of hornet resin and some spare etch I saved from the 1st edition already being cleaned and blackened so I can do another one of those.

Everything I did to achieve this finish is on the link below along with a ton of photos.

That's really cool! I like the eyes, and the fact that the pilot is way back on the end of the tail, which is really unique.

Thanks! I figured since the wing mechanics would be fairly complex that's the best place... out of the way of what makes it fly, but not in a weird spot like a seat above the thorax or something.

Yup, like my hornet and fish subs. Designed it and the etch and made it into a resin kit. :-) More are in production, like a squid and 3 unannounced/secret insects. :-)

Started off with doing a few rough sketches and decided on this one to base it on.

Then it was on to bondo, styrene, Illustrator for the etch, alibaba to source the 1/2 sphere glass lenses, and so much more.

The instructions (I'm a graphic designer w/ 20 years exp) give a better idea of what goes into it.

And just because...

The "mechanical" part is great, looks like it would really operate.

The resin castings are amazing, very clean and sharp. They look like good quality injection-mold pieces.

Thanks! This is my newer caster... they do amazing work and the clean-up is minimal/easy which is nice. Sometimes I have to search for the mold-lines as they're so fine, but do eventually show up when painting.

This one bugs me but I am a big fan of your work so will get over it.

If only I wasn't so swamped... the kit is tempting.

A screw up on your part doesn't constitute an emergency on mine.
