Title: Steam-punk Statues and Barn wood 3-D Collages
Post by: Scratchman on October 13, 2020, 04:32:25 PM
I call them "bird houses". Not for-real birds, and nowhere for wasps to hide.

Nicely decorative, and very creative.

Thanks guys for your comments. Here's six more collages .(wood detail parts) Bill I got one bird, one chicken, two brass ducks and two fish. On collage #one a small wood bird, was a part of something I got at a yard sale. On collage #two two wood birds I cut out of pine using bird one as a pattern. On collage #three is a  unfinished blank still needs shaping, and  the eye and beak added . On collage #four four wood tulips painted white over a black base. On collage #5 and collage #6 old clothes pins  cost me 1.00 each at the Antique Mall near my home.

I guess that's what you build when you're not building models. I hope you have a lot of display space at your house. Happy New Year. -- Russ

Thanks guys for your comments. Russ, I look at these works as my day job. It gives me something to balance things out and help me keep busy. I have a shop for my model work that was build the same time I build my home.  The birdhouse steam-punk statues and barn wood collages shop is in a small shed with some covered porches with eight work benches and a lot of storage.

Here's two more collages using old stair stringer for the base:

It's interesting how your models are very real and technical while the collages are impressionistic and artistic. Few would guess the same person could create both. -- Russ

Collage # -1 Most of the painted white wood I have is from a neighbors old deck, and kids play set. That was gave to me. She ask for a bird house that featured  an old outboard motor oil can, and some other things she had collected. .

Thanks guys for your comments.

Here's a photo of my next collage I made out of an old medicine chest.

Here's a photo  of a bird house that covers a flow-back valve. The cover has six layers that are removeable so the valve can be removed for winter.
