Does anyone know the difference between steam power black, engine black, tarnished black and oily black?

I assume the oily black is just a gloss.

Hard to find any info on the paints. I tried to find a side by side review but didn't find anything.

Steam power and engine black are close to the same-pretty black. Tarnished is more on the grey side but not as grey as grimey black. I don't know if oily has any gloss-I used it once but didn't like it for what I was doing.

Thanks. I got the Steam Power Black this weekend but haven't tried it out yet.

The Gouache you mentioned works really well!!

Model Masters German Panzer Gray is a close match for Floquil and Polly Scale Weathered Black.  (And Panzer Gray is available as a spray paint, making it a good primer/first coat for boilers, etc.)
