That's a FSM design and I like many of its features but it makes no apparent sense architecturally. Has anybody else ever thought that? -- Russ

yes, your correct, its FSM #295 "fox run milling company" , main building only, made by George in an HO kit and scratch built by me in O scale.
Drove me crazy when i left HO and went to O, as i had built everything George produced at least once. So the naturel thing for me to do was to scratch build some of my favorites in O scale.
IMHO....Georges designs may not always make perfect structure design sense, but wow his stuff looks great, always has & always will.
The tar paper roof was painted roof red, then toned with alcohol ink washes followed by some bradgon powers. To get that old faded red look i sprayed the roof with dullcote then washed the roof immediately with 99% pure isopropinal alcohol. Reason i did this is there is a chemical reaction between the dullcote and the alco giving the faded look.

thanks Fred.....put that RRLF thread in my favorites to watch it and see where he goes with it. I rarely ever go to that site for some reason.
I cut my base down as tight as i could get it to still allow some vehicles and details. I think my base was 21-22" long x 13-15" wide to avoid the super large base RT Baron is dealing with. I figured i would have had to do a 24 wide x 36--40" long to duplicate the HO kit design.
I never got a chance to sit enjoy the built up, as a person in schenectady NY saw the pictures somewhere and it headed south in a very big box. !
Maybe i will get excited again soon and build something after a 11 month tools down hiatus.
