My makeover of the Danbury Mint die-cast is finally finished. I am having some issues with my new computer, but here are a couple of pics:

The laser cut radiator fins by Tom Fitzgerald (Crystal River Products) came out just as I had hoped.
Chuck,
fantastic :o :o :o
Thanks for sharing the solutions you found on your search for reality here and on fotki.
All your work has been inspirational for me in my search for the sawmill project details.
Jacq
Chuck
It just doesn't get any better than that. What you have accomplished should inspire anyone who loves modeling!
Thanks for all the learning and teaching of great ideas.
Jerry
About Time! ;) ;D
Absolutely beautiful. The attention to detail as with all your muids is just superb. The leaves stick in the radiator are a great touch.
....now stop overexposing/overlighting your photos ;)
Marc
Chuck,
Attention to detail shows through again at its extreme. The translation from real thing to the model is near impossible to fault. Of course, we now want a nice outdoor pic of it set against the old barn diorama base just to cap it off. I hate having to look at your stuff, coz I have to go and clean the drool out of the keyboard after I've sat studying the pics for so long ;) ;D.
Whats next?
Dan
Satisfactory work, Chuck.
Incidentally, Chuck's second article about building the diorama the Fordson will grace, appears in the upcoming Modelers' Annual. The new article tells how to age and distress metal, how to make signs and labels, how to fashion protruding nails, deals a little with ground cover, and is full of all kinds of other goodies. It is pretty much the definitive article on structure details.
Russ
THanks for the nice words! Its nice to be done with it.
Nothing like a new computer and monitor to throw my pics for a loop. Back to the book...
Dan, not sure what will grab me next, but it has to be simple!
Well, this is going to leave a great void in my life. No more wondering what Chuck could come up with next that would possibly top what he's done before. No more being totally blown away when he does it.....
It's an awesome piece of modelling.
Chuck
the model and photography - brilliant
Mario
Chuck, congratulations! I am at a loss for superlatives to describe your results on the Fordson, it's a must! You have done a fantastic work, and it's really difficult to say if it's reality or modelling...
Sets the bar another notch higher!
Franck
Another utterly magnificent build Chuck. Those rad fins were so worth the effort.
Thanks guys! I agree Chester, I was real happy with it.
Chuck, this has been one great makeover. Can't wait to see it sitting on the diorama. The Danbury Mint needs to do a second run of this tractor. It would make a great base for a number of great projects. Hope you're still planning the monorail engine with your remaining tractor.
Gordon Birrell
Thanks Gordon! It was a lot of fun once I got past the metal re-work. I can't imagine doing another to this level, but I would like to make a rolling model of the Monorial tractor using that neat chain you and Marty found.
Hi Chuck.
Astonishing and bewildering come to mind. Makes me want to throw stones at my models. Congradulations and regards.
Mic
Hey, Mic! Quit goofing around over there and start another model project! Don't even joke about throwing stones at your stuff or I'll fly over there and kick your butt! -- Russ
Thanks, Mic! Saw your new tip sheet in the Gazette, but otherwise...Unc is right, get (or continue) modelling! Hope to see new stuff from you sometime.
CHuck
Mic!
First; Welcome aboard!
Second; throw stones? are we building a stone wall?
You've made your first post, now show us some pictures of what you've been doing!!!
(Russ isnt it a requirement for members to submit pictures?)
-Marty
Uh-oh! You'd better be more specific about those pictures of what Mic is doing, Marty! Let's limit them just to his model projects.
From what he last told me, though, he's been goofing off for the past year or two and can't seem to find the motivation to start a new project. We need to light a fire under him, make him realize how old fashioned he is, impress him with the realization that he couldn't possibly build a model up to current prize winning standards, and maybe encourage the poor, old, over-the-hill guy with some gentle suggestions about how he might improve his shoddy work with contemporary modeling techniques.
Also, maybe we all should chip in to buy him a jar of chickenfat, the Super Breakfast Food of all Astounding Modelers.
Russ
Mic
Welcome aboard. I take it if you joined you had something to say or show us.
I saw ad in the Gazette also, maybe you should show us how that's done!
Jerry
Just in time for the Fall harvest, I have finished my Large Scale Vacation:

"DOWN ON THE FARM WITH CHUCK DOAN"
Just an outstanding finish to a beautiful modeling job!!
Jerry
Chuck,
Nothing less than stunning!!! Your modeling talents are truly amazing and inspiring.
Frank
Chuck,
Great job you did with this.
I showed some friends these pictures and they didn't believe it is a model.
Just great work.
Leon
Outstanding work as always Chuck - truly inspirational.
Paul
Very marginal work, Chuck. But keep trying .... -- Russ
Chuck,
Stop fooling us and show us the photo's of the model, please.
Jacq
Thanks for the kind words! Russ, I promise that the third or fourth one of these will be more pleasing!
Jacq, here's the (hand) model....

all I can add is my eternal admiration, and a round of applause.
I just unpacked my O scale version...........
congrats, I bet dad is pleased.
-marty
Great Work Chuck!! Lets see you started this in Oct. 2005, thats 1 wall and 1 vehicle. My calculations it should take you about 38 more years to finish the rest of the Farm!! - Better get started!!
Keep up the good work!
Dont let Russ bring you down ;D
-Jon
Chuck,
.....Bite Me!
Marc ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
QuoteJacq, here's the (hand) model....
What one can do with photoshop ;)
Chuck, thanks for being able to follow you ups and downs with your modelling.
Jacq
The Danbury Mint 1:16 scale Fordson Chuck used for this project is long out of production. If anyone wants to make a similar project, a new source for a 1:16 model is Universal Hobbies.

Why stop with the Fordson?
